I plan on watching movies, but it won't be my main use. I will also be burning DVDs and CDs. I wouldn't have gotten Media Center if it were a pricey upgrade, but it was only $19, plus $7 more for the reinstallation CD.
The reinstallation CD was recommended to me a while back when I made the first thread about Dell computers and I'm glad I got it now. It was only $7.
What's 5-10 fps?

The reason anyone "prefers" you to upgrade is because it costs more (for you) AND the machine has better overall performance which helps their reputation by having good laptops. Everyone wins if the cash is available. This goes for just about everything in a capitalist society.
