If you are running around on 87 octane, what happens if you suddenly need to romp on the throttle? Detonation happens, that's what. Hell, in this hot weather, you could detonate at part throttle on 87 octane.
Octane boosters are largely snake oil. That means they don't work. This has been tested by car magazines and consumer reports.
Sometimes I alternate a tank of 89 with a tank of 93 in my wife's car because she doesn't ever WOT it. I would never put 87 in it.

my friend used 87 till he realised it was cheaper to run 93 bc of gas mileage, the retard you get from 87 wasts mileage/efficiency...do i see no reason why to use 87 it costs more for goodness sake...
