Default Tranny Rebuild?

Just recently after my stall was put it, the tranny started slipping. It doesnt do it every time I drive the car, but about every other time or so. My question is will a tranny rebuild be a perm fix for the problem, or just a band aid? Also about how much would I be looking at to get it done? Thanks in advance.
