Did anyone go to Best Buy or Circuit City last year on Black Friday? Was there a big line even at 5am?

Are we talking lines like Xbox360/PS3 all over the store, or is it more like a busy Sunday afternoon but at 5am?

My brother just drove by the Best Buy off of 290/Fry and he said there was already a line on one side of the building.

I was thinking about grabbing one of those 17" monitors for 79 bucks, but I'll just spend the extra 100 bucks instead of lining up in that!

Ok so I did the Bestbuy thing this morning at 5.....NEVER AGIAN!!....They had a 22" Widescreen monitor for $200. Well I went to the one in Pearland first and the line was wraped around the buildings. So I said screw that I will try the one on Richmond in the Galleria on my way to work. The line was gone....JUST MENT ALL THE PEOPLE WERE IN THE STORE! Its not like a busy Sunday its wall to wall people. Take a busy sunday and make it 10 times the amount of people.

DID I SAY NEVER AGAIN!!!!

And no they didnt have any of the monitors left.

FWIW, I swung by BB off of 288/528 around 8:30am this morning. Parking lot was jammed up, and every aisle had about 4-5 people in it. It wasn't like attending a concert, but it was busier than I had ever seen. The checkout lines were nuts as well.

I bet 1/3 people were carrying a 27"+ flatscreen HDTVs .

I went to the Best Buy on Hwy 6 and 529 at 4:30 this morning. I got out the truck and walked half way up and saw that the line was almost to 529 I thought there was no way in hell I was going to stand in that line. I politely went back to my truck and saw there for the 30 minutes until they opened.

Everyone was in a orderly line. There was a police officer letting the people go in a little at a time. There were also BB employees making sure no one cut in line. So I waited until I could see the end of the line got there, went inside and got what I needed. Now mind you the laptops, LCD TVs and things like that were gone when the first few people were let in. I wasn't there for any of that stuff, so it didn't really matter. I picked up a DVR, DVD player and a computer game(it was a good deal on the game...was $19.99 on sale for $4.99). I got out of there under $150, so I'm pretty happy about that.

From what I heard the first few people were there at 6pm yesterday!!!

Some people are more interested in finding a "deal" without regard to the opportunity costs. Many people on thie forum are the same . Its like the tax free weekend. IMO, saving 8.25% isn't worth going elbow to elbow with soccer moms and Abercrombie kids. However, it really brings the crowds out, which is great for the stores.

With that in mind, if you don't mind putting up with some junk, you can get a great deals on different items. A $300-400 sale might mean the difference for someone getting a cool HDTV or another tube TV.

VERY true, it ain't for me. All about opportunity and the society we live in now "I want it NOW!" like the PS3 for example. Not for me. One things for sure, it's GREAT for stores.
