Default might be getting a ls1

guess i dont need the rolling chasis anymore
well my bro just graduated the fire fighter academy and my dad is looking at getting him a new truck cause his is starting to get old 98 Ram with 110k on it, and my dad is looking on ebay (he use ebay all the time, he knows the risks and knows what to look for) well hes found a few trucks for my bro, so he called him and told him his password and id for ebay to look at the trucks he was watching, and low and behold thier are a few ls1 cars on thier.

I guess he thinks it might be time for me to get a new car also if my brothers car is old mine is ancient 96 with 156k on it but still runs fine, paint has seen better days.

Now before some people go off the deep end about my dad giving us everything, i worked for my car, spent my first years pay while i was active duty before i went reserves as a down payment on my car and made most of the payments and got a little help everynow and then when money was tight. I am a full time student now so i cant work that much, well i could but i dont want to i would rather have more time to spend on my grades.

My question is he hasnt told me about this yet, should i aks him about it or should i just leave it be. I would love to get a ls1 car for daily driving to park my lt1 and start fixing it up and maybe set it aside for a street/strip car. I just dont know if i should say anything or not, i dont think he would stop looking if i ask him about it but i dont want to hurt the chances of getting a newer car either lol. What you guys think? I think he might want it to be a surprise.

CLIFFS: Dad is looking at cars for bro, bro gets password and id for ebay from dad to look at trucks he's watching, theres a few ls1's there, id love to have a newer car, he hasnt told me about it yet, should i say anything to him about it?

Why not ask? You think he would get pissed off and not do it because you asked? If so, that's pretty messed up.

thats a slight possibilty but i dont think so, i have tried to talk my bro into getting a f-body and he loves to drive mine but whenever we talk about it, "no all the people i know need someone thats got a truck so i could help out" which is just insane to me he wants to buy a truck so other people can use it, i keep telling him to get what he wants and will enjoy and he still wants the truck and my dad knows my bro has his heart set on getting a truck, besides i talked to my dad about trying to get him to get a f-body and he said he wouldnt do it cause he knows he wants a truck

no i was going to sell my car when i was looking at a cobra, they flipped the deal on me right before i signed all the paper work and changed how much they wanted down and how much they would give me for my car and i said no thanks

and i was looking for a rolling chasis that is in good shape, if he gets a newer car for me then i dont have to worry about it, as for the paint i just got a new hatch for my car in sig and went to a few body shops for estimates earlier this week which is why i started looking for a rolling chasis, because i could prolly get a nice rolling chasis cheaper than a new paintjob at the prices i got quoted

I dont really know what your deal is i was just asking a question and wondered what other people would do if they had a situation like this come up.

as for the car being for sale for 4k its old has a lot of miles on the body with a fresh motor i dont see what was wrong with the price i was going to trade it in for 3700 but like i said the changed everything at the last minute and told me they would give me half of the original offer, if you have something against me i dont know why i didnt do anything to you, you need to chill out man.

You should sell your LT1 and just buy a LS1 and use it for all purpose. A heads cam car can be a reliable daily driver and still fast at the strip.

i have thought about that but if i can keep my lt1 car and get a ls1 car i would much rather do that and park the lt1 car for a while and do what i wanted to with it and keep the ls1 stock for a DD

When i was looking at the cobra i was working full-time and was making the money to make the downpayment, now i am a full time student looking for part-time job to work with my hours which are really wierd this semester and cant afford to blow what i have right now making up the rest of the money from selling the LT1 to get the LS1 (if i had gotten the cobra i would have been able to keep it because my reserve/GI bill pay would have covered the payments)

so anyway back to the original purpose of this thread would you confront your dad if he was looking at cars that were pretty sure would be for you if he hadnt told you anything about it or would you wait and see what happens

oh trust me if he gets me a ls1 car i would not care if it was a z,ss,TA,formula, firehawk i would like any one of them

The good thing is that he is really picky he wont buy one unless it has under 70k miles on it and it is in good-great shape and he knows how much i love my bird so if he decides to get me a newer car and he does get a ls1 i am pretty sure he would get me a LS1 TA or formy but i would take any one of them

hell if he got me any car that was newer i would be happy so i could park the lt1 and keep it from getting a ton more miles on it

well i talked to him a few minutes ago about it and he said he just wanted to show it to me..... however he has done this before then suprised me with it after he got my impression on it, and i got a good vibe from him when we were talking about it, he was smiling a lot and such, my dad's never been a good liar lol we will see though he wants to talk more about it when he gets home from work, ill have to wait and see what happens but i have a good feeling about it

heres a few details on the car in question 98 NBM TA A4 all leather interior with 60k miles on it in exceptional shape for about 9800$

lol i payed for about 6300 of the 6700 (got tight on a couple of payments when my transmision went out and needed a little help) i paid for mine in 2003 also lol

only reason hes even thinking about it is because mine is getting a lot of miles on it and my dad is starting to worry about reliability but he knows i cant afford to put up a lot of money myself because of the hours im putting into my engineering degree

That's a nice one, I know which one you are talking about. it's in houston. but look harder there are two that I would select over that one. both are 01's One is a maple red and the other is a WS6 both are about 12K. Your better off with the 01 02 LS1. If you need some more help let me know.
