. hes been building and machining racing engines, lsx,SBC,BBC,sbf, bbf, turbo 6 buick motors, and so forth for years. highly recommended.
check hotrodgossip, and ask and youll recieve nothing but positive feedback from his work. He has built motors for pro stock, tt5 specs and so forth. his work takes time on turnarounds but get myword, his machining is the best so far in my eyes.

Tim Griggs is a perfectionist and will not allow a performance engine to leave his shop if it is not right. He has built two very strong engines for me. One fairly stock and the other that puts to the wheels; turbo car; on just 348 c.i. 1167 RWHP on only 17ps1; no ice in the tank; and no lock up on a Mustang Dyno at Conley's. I have had tranny issues; brake issues; traction issues; but absolutely no issues with either engine.

The shop in Baytown you are referring to I assume would be Automotive Machine. There are 4 LS1's in there right now. They do not specialize in performance work. But, they still do plenty of it. But, I don't say this lightly. I would put Paul's ability and attention to detail with any one I have ever dealt with. I am always in awe of his eye for detail, and for his ability to come up with unique solutions to problems.
If you think you'd be more comfortable going with Erik, then I would advise you to go see Erik. I don't think you'd be making a bad choice, and ultimately its important to be satisfied in your decision.
You asked about the machine shop in Baytown, so I just wanted to provide what I felt was pertinent information. I have had a close relationship, and a strong association with Automotive Machine for about 22-25 years now. I would put their work against any shop I know of.
You asked about them having ls1 experience, so I wanted you to understand they have it. As stated there are 4 ls1's in there right now. This includes one stroker. But again, I think you need to go where you feel most comfortable. I feel very comfortable with AMS which is why I gave them my endorsement. I have personaly seen what they can do, and Paul's eye for detail is second to none in my opinion.
