Default low coolant light

k.. few days ago i had some water/oil mixed substance dripping underneath the ac compressor. im not sure what it is or where itz comin from but it was dripping from underneath my car. ever since then i have this red low coolant light kept showing on and off..

i already checked (visually) waterpump/radiator but there is nothing wrong with it. car is NOT over heating. i check the coolant level and it was full. although i did add some distilled water/coolant in it. maybe half a quart.

what else is there i should check for? any advice?

the car is 99 and has 92xxx miles on it. i did coolant flush last year with valvoline.

any advice will be great. thanx

I have a 98 TA and that light comes and go's i talk to a guy at a dealership
he said it works on a float switch and it can get stuck from time to time. so
aslong as you are full on coolant and not over heating it is probably the same thing

no you wont get a ses light it will just turn off the low coolant light, after the second one i just gave up on buying them and unpluged it, no problems, it has been unpluged for some time now, just check the coolant level every once in a while to make sure your not loosing any. but it is easy to replace if you want to go that route but i dont remember how much it is off the top of my head.

just drain some of the coolant out of the radiator with the drain on the bottom, be carefull not to break the drainwhen loosening it, it is plastic, pull the metal paperclip looking thing off from around the base of the sensor and give it a tug to get it out, put new one in and reinstall clip, it is located about 3 inches under the radiator cap, i have a lt1 so i just pull the plastic sheild over the radiator off, if on a ls1 you might have to pull the whole lid assembly off im not sure though
