Default Ship the WSOP Main Event!!!

Last weekend I was supposed to go to Vegas to play in the $5,000 and $2,500 buy-in WSOP events but I was able to sell the seats for more than face value and I have decided to buy a seat into the $10,000 buy-in Main Event!!

I thought long and hard about taking the 10k in cash, but I know I would end up doing something dumb with it anyways. This way I could end up making a bunch of money.

Good luck sir - I've played in a number of "high dollar" tournaments, but never had the confidence in myself to go fork over $10,000 to play in the ME.

The biggest buy-in live tournament I played in was a $1,000 tournament here in Houston that I cashed in. I'm a bit nervous but everybody that I've talked to said that the Main Event field is sooooo soft for the first few days I should be just fine.

Umm...who would be dumb enough to buy those tickets at more than face value? It's not like those seats are sold out, they could've just gone there and paid the same price as everyone else. Just wondering.

It's people that have a bunch of money tied up online but can't get it out soon enough to buy a ticket in cash. It takes a few weeks to get your $$$ offline these days. A year ago you could do the transfer in 2-3 days, but it takes about 2 weeks with the new legislation. It's fairly common for the WSOP and WPT events.

My 5K ticket sold for like $5,700 and the $2,500 for $2,850. It's not some huge profit. I still had to take some of my cash game bankroll offline to make up the difference.

If you want good practice, go to Absolute and player their Million Dollar freerolls - that's the best advice I can give b/c you will find some of the biggest donkeys in the world at the ME. Also, just a tip, don't try bluffing the first day... Good luck

only 10k buy in? psst. Go all in every hand. LOL If you make it far/get on TV. Wear an ls1tech shirt.

On a serious note. $10k is alot of skrilla to put down in the tournament. But you have to pay to play. Hopefully you'll pull a "jamie gold" and pull some hands.

The Stars Million aka 'Stuper' is a pretty donk filled tournament too. A lot of the guys I've been talking to that are already in Vegas for the World Series have been really really suprised by the play in such big buy-in tournaments. I guess I'm going to have to play really straight forward for the first day and hope to end the day around 35k in chips.

Rob,

I play at two different places live. One is VIP here on our side of town. The other place is a little bit more upscale but it's kind of in the Galleria area. Most of my play is online though.

It's amazing how no matter what the buy-in, you'll always find donkeys...

You ever play over off of Haskel and 75?

I have my own name but at the shop I keep Mike logged in because he gets so many PM's a day that I respond to.

I leave on July 3rd and I'm going to play Day 1A on July 6th. Then I have the first flight home on July 7th for a 7pm wedding where I'm the best man. Then I have the first flight back out to Vegas on July 9th to be ready for Day 2 on July 10th. That's assuming I'm still in...

Never played there. I mainly stick to VIP because it's close and they have off-duty HPD officers doing security and stuff. They also have a really juicy 1-3 NLHE/PLHE game.
