Thieves!!!
Here's a pic of the damage to the lock. You can also see the damage where they were going to pry under the door handle several months ago

Here's the dash
Talked to the insurance today and they will cover everything the only thing they ask is that I provide something to show what I paid for the headunit. Everything else is covered without any questions.
This is exactly why I don't drive the TA to work.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Insurance says while the truck is at the shop they can send a stereo shop over to replace my stereo and do the install so once I pick it up it's a done deal. OR I can take care of the stereo myself. They said that if they can't get me the same headunit (which I know they can't) then they will replace it with one that's comparable. I wouldn't mind getting them to get a new stereo installed but I'm worried that
1) it will be a cheaper headunit than what I had and not as nice
OR
2) if they do get me something comparable in 6 months I'll be in the same place with my truck getting broken into again (happened to one of my coworkers)
So what would you do if you were in my place? I'm very picky about my stuff and as anyone that knows me can tell you I don't like to buy anything cheap. I rather do it right the 1st time
I wouldn't mind if they got me a unit that was equal in price as long as it's another Alpine. I've looked at the models for this year and for the price I can get a pretty nice unit. It's not top of the line but it's not the bottom either. I just don't want them to say "It was a cd player and that's what we got you" or something like that and I end up with something cheap from walmart.
I think I'm going to end up just taking care of the stereo myself. I'm too picky to let them decide what I get. The only problem I have now is the receipt. It's faded since it's kind of old. I can read everything on it but when I tried to copy it to fax to them it doesn't show much of anything. I messed with it for a while and it's still not good. I might try to scan it and see if that helps.
