We already knew Vick wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this goes beyond being dumb. This is evil.

I hope someone connects jumper cables to his *****, soaks him down, and bangs him on the ground over and over while being shock and shot in the head over and over again with a gun. He deserves it.

Above and beyond all the legal wrangling, Vick now has PETA on his azz.

Game over, man.

This really pisses me off especially with me being the dog lover that I am, but even if I wasn't this **** is just wrong.

What really pisses me off is the NFL doing nothing about it. They already suspended for the entire season Adam "Pacman" Jones for all his recent bouts with the police and no conviction, indictments, or even court appearances---Not saying I defent Pacman at all-but yet the NFL is making statements that they are behind Vick and going to wait and see how the hearing plays out. He should be suspended for at least the season, if not banned for good. If you are going to hold one man--Pacman--to a certain standard, then that standard needs to be upheld throughout the entire group.

If this was anybody else in the world that wasn't in the NFL it wouldn't be an issue.

Here's my take on it. This is a STANDARD practice that is illegal.

The guy broke the law, let the LEGAL system do what it's supposed to. If he's guilty, let the punishment = the crime.

the NFL has no bearings on what happens and in my opinion have no right to even stick their nose into it

Now, if convicted and he goes to jail, his contract will be null and void and can't play anyway.

BUT, if he's found not guilty, the NFL shouldn't do anything about it.

That's like me getting fired from my job for doing some illegal, probably wouldn't happen.

Have you seen what the new commish has done lately?

Pacman done for the season even though he has never been convicted but has had 11 run in's with the law in the last couple years. Chris Henery for the Bengals done for i think half the season, Tank Johnson most likely done for the season cause he was taken in for a DWI while on a probabtion with the NFL.

I think the Falcons will do something before the league office will just cause their owner is ery sub-consious of the way the city views his team.

Also the way NFL contracts work the can cut anyone at any time for any reason and don't have to pay any money to the player, only garunteed money is your signing bonus.

Have you even been paying attention to the NFL lately?

You get a DUI, you get in trouble...
You get arrested, you get suspended...
You get arrested multiple times and bye bye...

It's b/c they have a clause in their players agreement with the NFL that they will not do anything that gives the league a bad name... I'd definately say that players promoting dog fighting would qualify as that...

And as for your job... I don't know what you do, but if it's a professional position with a career focus, you most likely would get fired if you were going to jail

well, my point is that if it was ANYBODY else, nobody would give a ****.

Everybody likes to put celebrities in a different light, they are JUST people like everybody else and are fuckups. This is no different than Joe Blow but he can throw a damn football far...who cares?

Well I'm pretty sure the other men invovled in the indictment aren't Celebs of Pro Athletes and they too are being prosecuted, as are all the other individuals who have been indicted, prosecuted and convicted in the past.

The only merit your arguement would be in regards to the media attention it's getting, and in that case, you're right... other then a blip on the evening news, it probably would be ignored and forgotten about if he wasn't a celebrity. However the fact that he's a starting QB for a Multibillion dollar organization, it'd be like the VP of Microsoft being indicted in Dog Fights... it's going to get recognition and scrutiny.

It's all about publicity and this is definitly an issue the NFL is going to have to do something about.

I don't agree with you Splitz. Yes, he does receive more attention because he's an athlete/celebrity, but the entire reason the NFL and Falcons have to take action against him is because he is representing their company and product. As someone pointed out earlier, there's certainly a clause in his contract, as well as verbage regarding behavior in the colective bargaining agreement. It's not just a matter of law, it's also a matter of what he signed up for when he decided to play in the NFL.
I'm not sure what you do, but if I was involved in something that was considered felonious and brought any kind of negative attention to my place of employment, I wouldn't have a job anymore. End of story. Every person's job is different, and though I agree with you that the general public tends to put athletes and celebrities on pedastools, there are certain parts of fame that comes with the teritory, like it or not.

There is just one problem with your rant: Innocent until proven guilty. Perhaps wait for the trial, and then it's results, before judging someone's true involvement. You ever think POSSIBLY that the folks that were living there, and were without a doubt fighting dogs, are trying to suck Vick in to help their respective cases? Scared folks will snitch on their mothers if they think it would save them jail time.

I'm going to hold off judgement until all the facts are known.

WHAT A FREAKIN IDIOT!!!!

I can't believe someone who is so blessed with his talent and abilities can be sooooo stupid! He is the highest paid player in the NFL and he does something like this! This guy is gonna lose millions of dollars...I heard Nike is gonna suspend the debut of his shoe and other corporate sponsors are already pulling the plug on him....

I hope the guy gets everything he deserves! I am really surprised the NFL hasn't done more about it....I know they said they are having a wait and see policy on Vick but a federal indictment is no joke....they must have some serious evidence about his involvement in this whole mess....

And on the notion of cruelty to these dogs....that really pisses me off...especially all the accounts of how some of the dogs were treated/killed....that is one sick F*CK! Almost as bad as child/elderly abuse....
He'll never pick up another major corporate sponsorship and his career may just be over....

Poor Falcons too....possibly lose Vick, traded Schaub, stuck with Joey Harrington???? DAMN!!!

Hmm....you can take the thug out of the ghetto but not the ghetto out of the thug!

I'll get off my soap box now.....

True, but it sure isn't looking good. The Feds are at a 95% conviction rate when they indict someone. This isn't claims court or someone tripping on your sidewalk and using the first ambulance chaser at the scene.
