BMW 335xi.....
- The 335's and E46 M3's (IL-6s not the new V8) will not beat a C6. They will nip out stock* T/As, Camaros Z28s....auto SS's, and C5's. (I think mostly it's a drivers race)
- There is some truth to your coworkers statements. However, I think he is wrong about those 2 BMWs being unbeatable in a straight line. The weight and TQ-less factor hurts the BMWs.
- On a road course BMWs are unbeatable.
And M3s are quick as well. There have been quite a few of them that have run high 12s bone stock. There are a few F bodys that have done so too. It's really a drivers race.
They are heavy, but they are great cars. They last a hell of a lot longer, and do virtually everything other than go fast in a straight line, better.
I'd put money on a well driven F body in both cases though.

We were on track with M3s, M5s and those little Z shoebox things, 911s, 944s, Audis of some sort .... They gridded us last because we were in "drag racing cars".
Several of those Bimmers were lapped by us.
In grid, an M5 owner with his nose in the clouds and a fake European accent said to me ...
"Must be nice to have twice the HP"
To which I responded ...
"Yes, and at half the price."
I'll never forget that as long as I live ...
