Wheeeew.... I bought an 02 SS from out of state and needed it inspected. I was sweatin it out for awhile (cam, no cats, tint etc.). So, I take my 01 Suburban 2500 to the shop on the corner and let them inspect it first to get a "feel" of the place. I ask my inspector what happens if I fail. He explains the law to me and inspects the 'burban, comes back and said nothing to worry about, the car is straight. I say "thats not the car I was worried about." He says bring whatever I got and he will "hook me up". I bring the car and he drives it around the block and when he puts it in the shop the whole crew goes over. I am really sweatin now because the owner seems a bit "uptight". Anyways, the dude comes back and says "You aint got no cats". He says blah blah, its expensive blah blah. He says he knew it didn't have cats as soon as it started up because it sounded like his 'stang. I asked him where he got that inspected and he said he did it right there. He says "Tell you what, I will fail you for no cats, come back in a coupla hours and I'll say you put them on and give you your sticker....." Thanks for the look and NO I won't tell you where it is....

Technically they have to drive the car..... making sure the brakes are working properly is one of the inspection items.
