Default LS1 vs. Lexus IS-F

What do you guys think about the new Lexus IS-F?

For those that haven't heard of it yet - here's a link for some background: http://www.edmunds.com/lexus/isf/2008/review.html

Will it beat a mildly modded LS1?

There are quite a few good youtube videos of em on the track and on the dyno. It's a damn nice car IMO and I can't wait to see em on the road.

In response to it having ugly exhaust - I kinda like it =) and it sounds great!

It’ll most likely run a little quicker than a stock ls-1 car and pretty even with a lightly modded one. I figure they'll weigh at least 3,850 lbs and have 400hp that's a good 400 lbs more than a LS-1 F-body that has 350hp stock and probably 370 with a few mods. They'll still be pretty quick, they seem to put the power to the ground very efficiently seeing that the IS350's can run mid 13's with only 305hp in a 3700lbs car on factory tires. On the other hand the is 350's aren't torque monsters so who knows if a similar car can handle an extra 75 torque a lot of the new power might go up in smoke. Truthfully I'm not really impressed that a DOHC 5.0 direct-injected V8 is only putting out 400hp and 350tq. Look at Ford's (yea yea I know some people hate um) 5.0 cammer it'll put out an easy 400hp and 385tq and meet emissions and that’s with heads that don't flow as well as the new GT/Shelby castings. It will put out even more than that if it is fitted with LT’s and an offroad midpipe and this is using the mod motor that is based on nearly 20 years old designed. Plus who knows what the thing is going to cost an easy 75grand I bet.

No doubt it's gonna be expensive.. But at the same time, it's the most powerful lexus ever and IMO, based on it's specs, it may just be -almost- worth the sticker price, whatever it may be.

Certainly it's a great luxury-sports car if you can afford one.

I personally miss the Supras!!!!!!

That's been a big debate in nearly every article I've read about it so far.. We'll have to see.

I'm looking forward to running one =)

I doubt it will, but I do think it will be a great car to own. BMW doesn't play around when it comes to being the best.

Yeah they are nice cars, but i hate the look. It looks like a womans car. I remember when i got my z28. Couple of days later a Mercedes wanted to play. I thought easy kill...........hum no! He jumped on my about a car length and stayed that way! So much for that!

That would be an awesome shootout.

Yes I would have one over an LS1, but that is sure to have a massive price tag. Two different cars.

Might beat the current M3, but the new one coming out along side the IS-F should beat it hands down. Like I said you can't **** with the champ.

Cause that's not even close to the same level of car..

SL65's cost around 200K! The cars in question go for around 55K.
