Default 1LSWON & Powell Fun at HRP (LONG)

Well we took our cars to the track again. I was still on the nittos, but the car felt much better this weekend seemed to be cooler outside.
Well the first race I had was vs. a black SN95-98 body mustang. He was on some fat *** slicks, and pie cutters in the front, and it sounded healthy. I tried doing a little longer burnout, and that did seem to help. On this pass I did red light with a -.081, but it was no big deal. I thought it was going to be a close race, but I had passed him by the 60’, and the dragging began. I ran a 12.016 @ 124.57mph to his 13.0 @ 105mph. The black mustang looked much nastier than it was.

The second, and last pass that I made was against a red racecar Lightning. We know it had a KB, and god knows what else, and it was on some nice slicks. We had seen it run earlier, and we were all in shock about how fast it was. It was a N/T car so we were not too sure, but we guessed low 11s possible high 10s. Glad I have such nice friends because they all said I was going to get my **** plowed, and I thought the same. So, I did an even longer burnout to try to do the best I could. I launched the car, and treed him pretty good, but I stated to spin/wheel hop at the top of 2nd, and he was catching fast. Right when I shifted 2nd I continued to spin with a little wheel hop, but I stayed in it. At this point he had passed me, and was a few lengths ahead. I still thought I was in the race though because with good traction in 3rd I began to reel him back in. I was still coming up on him hard when I was in 4th, and was able to pass him around the 1000’ mark. I was able to get the win, and that race was quite possible the closest race I have ever had. When I got to the pits the Powell’s and Zac were already there saying I can’t believe you were able to get that race-truck we thought it was going to **** you up bad. Here is how I did against the truck. I know it is not the best time in the world etc., but it was a damn close race, and I won mainly due to the old LS1s great big end, and my reaction time. The truck ended up running an 11.6 @ 120mph. So time slip racing he had a better time, but I was able to beat him across the 1/4 line which is what was important to me.

R/T .055
60’ 2.171
330’ 5.444
1/8 8.003
1/8 96.71mph
1000’ 10.180
1/4 11.993
1/4 124.92

Powell’s 996 was flying tonight as well. On his first pass he told us he was just going to baby it to be sure everything was ok before he mashed it his next pass. So, that pass netted him a 12.7 @ 113mph.

We were each only able to make 2 passes a piece because we were sharing a helmet and the lines were FN long. On that note just to get it out cause it pissed us all of when we were there. The track official that was in charge of the lanes was letting people cut in and out, and not letting the lanes to go in order. This allowed some people to hot lap their cars without waiting in line while others waited almost an hour for one pass. Sorry for the VENT.

Anyways Powell’s last pass he was going all out. He launched the **** out of it leaving the line with all 4 spinning like crazy. The car looked flat out fast, but he missed 3rd, and just coasted. On a good note we all agreed that, that would have been his best time and mph so far in the car.
