Default Will a 79' 12 bolt work in a 4th gen?

I got a 79' 12 bolt that I wanna put in my 96, it will need the modifications like any 12 bolt unless you buy one already modified. will it work in my car? and are they the same width as the 10 bolt? Also could I just use the 10 bolt brackets and modify as needed? Only thing I think will have to be custom is prob the torque arm or do they make some to bolt up to 12 bolts? Thanks

Not sure. BUt I know you can put 4th gen rims on 79s. So I would think it would work. You just have to change up the mounting brackets I think. But I am sure someone smarter then me can confirm if I am right.

79 12 bolt out of what, a truck?

You'll have to cut off the leaf spring mounts and weld on your own LCA and shock mounts. For the torque arm, you're on your own. If you look at the Ford 8.8 information in the rear axle section here, you'll see how some people have grafted torque arm mounts to non-torque-arm rear ends, but half the time they ended up breaking off. Welding to a cast pumpkin can be tricky.

Not sure if your brakes will bolt up either. I know 94 LT1 rear brakes (with mounting plate) bolted up to my 79 Z28 rear end (pulled the drum stuff off), but one side didn't clear the shock mount on the 79 rear.

So your saying I can take the rims off of my '00 Firehawk and put them on my Dad's '79 Corvette? Just wondering.. Cause I wouldn't mind using his TTII's sometime lol.
