Help problem with shift light.

Help problem with shift light. Here is the deal I thought I had the issue fixed, but I just got on the car and it is not. This has caused problems because I know about where to shift it by ear, but with out it working properly when I go to the track I short shift real early so I don't hit the limiter etc.
All of the settings on the shift light are correct first off. When I turn the car on it does its little series of lights telling me that it is working properly so that seems to be ok. Well what it is doing is it begins randomly lighting up only under WOT and it starts doing it at about 4000rpm. It does not stay lit up, but just comes on and then goes off until it hits where it is actually supposed to come on at 6700rpm. When it comes on at 6700rpm it does what it is supposed to and stays lit to the limiter.
Please help me out I'm just missing something stupid I'm sure. The only guess I have is that the wire might be grounding out somewhere, but I think that would cause it to f up all over the place not just under WOT and above 4000rpm.

lol i have a shift light and in the back it says 4cyl. 6 cyl and 8 if i put it on 8 it does that so i have it set on 4 and it works just fine! just my .02 dont know if you have that option!

Everything is configured properly, and it has been working fine for over 3 years. Crager put it in and wired it up for, it just started freaking out a few months ago, and sometimes it works fine thats why it is so irritating.

I found what I think was the problem, it appears there is a tiny cut and I guess it was making contact when I subjected it to the massive space shuttle like acceleration/g-forces lol.
