Yea they pay time & a half for o/t. I still make the same pay just lots of overtime, plus the 70% hazard and location pay. Could make more as a contractor, but I'm keeping my civillian government job b/c it's hard to beat the benefits and stuff. I work at Red River Army Depot. Pretty gravy job here. I'll still be pushing close to the $200k mark probably.

I would not go back for less than 200k or so. I was talking to a company that had some positions that were paying 300k. It was pretty tempting to try for one of those spots.
Yea it doesn't seem like much, but it'll still make things better for my family. We'll be able to pay everything off and have some of the things we want, and not have to struggle from month to month. I swore I wouldn't go back, but now that I have a daughter, I want to be able to provide for her better than I would be able to if I just stayed here.

I am still swearing that. I think I tell myself once a week that it isn't worth it but it sure was nice seeing all those extra digits in the bank. I missed two years of my son's life, he is the only reason that I don't go back. I couldn't leave him again.

I hear that. I won't leave mine again if I have a choice. She's still young enought that she won't remember me gone when she gets older, but I won't be there to watch her grow up She's learning so much every day..still amazes me. But if it helps her have a better life, it'll be worth it.

Stay safe! At least you get to enjoy the holidays at home with the family.

I've tossed around the idea of going over. I hate the monotony of civilian life. Of course, leaving my 2 girls is what always weighs against eh $$$. They live a comfortable life right now, so they wouldn't care.

I could do IT stuff, or maybe get a job doing heavy machinery, I was an Abrams crewman when I was in.

That is what I did. I left right after he turned 2 and came home right after he turned 4. Just remember, she will love the jet boat!

Definately...she's not gonna be a girly girl. She's gonna be helping me work on stuff as soon as she's big enough. Atleast this way I can buy a house out of town and build a shop and get some toys to play around with.

Thanks Brian, Yea I understand that.Don't blame ya. I kept my 10 so I could move around more when I get back..get loaned out back to the hydraulic shop maybe. All the grade 12s are gonna be stuck on the MRAP, "IF" they even have any MRAP work at the depot then. If not, no place for all the grade 12s to go but the house.

Well Corey, Hope everything works out for you. I think ya'll will have a better trip this time around. Are they going to issue ya'll laptops? If so keep us posted on your tour. Personel wanted a bunch of us in Transportation to go and haul the MRAP's to the units with HETT's....They tried feeding us a line of ****...saying we were going to gross $200,000 for the year...but come to find out, all it was going to be was are base plus 35% base and maybe some OT. Not enough money for me to be a mobile target! Anyways stay safe and save your money to buy you another F-body.

Haven't heard anything about laptops but the MWR over there usually has an internet cafe on alot of the bases, and we will probably have one at the shop. We're getting base pay plus 70% hazard pay, and I hear they're working 7/16s, so the OT will be good. I'm going as a 10, but I'll be a step 5 in Feb. and with the cost of living raise in June I'll be making about $23/hr. Yea sounds like they were gonna try to you guys in the

I'm probably gonna be shopping for a high mileage LS1 car, not sure if I want another Camaro or another T/A. Something halfway cheap, a roller would be ideal. Put a little 454 LSX motor in it maybe. Although I do want to build another '69 too...and another jet boat with an all aluminum Dart 632 and a little N2O to shut up some of the local boat racers Too many toys on my list.
