Kid is probably lying to his parents, and they are pissed at him too. It's pretty obvious that he got careless though you might want to park somewhere else like a bit farther down.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. Someone scraped the side of their car down the back end of my tailgate. I was pissed that they didn't leave any kind of note, so I started walking around my complex to check out cars who's paint matched the one on my tailgate. I made it real obvious what I was doing when I found the potential culprit, walking around the car and taking pictures. I wanted them to see what I was doing.
As "luck" would have it, I had a note on my truck the next morning apologizing for hitting it and giving me their contact info. Girl said she was running late to work and didn't have time to stop to leave a note that morning. Riiiiigggghhhhttt
I got lucky and they took responsibility for their mistake. Hopefully this clown will do the same. Good luck!

I tapped the bumper of a parked car once. Damage seemed to be only paint on their car. I left my contact info under their windshield wiper...... never got a call.

However every single car I have ever driven has been hit in a parking lot at sometime. Even my Ram 3500 with a lift! Everytime the person has split.

Well. I just a call from the insurance agent and they are saying that they don't think the neighbor did it. They said it would have caused more damage to the Jeep than was showing up.

the insurance company is just trying not to pay. id say you have some shiiiitty neighbors. its clearly not from someone coming down the street and sideswiping it. can we say " ping pong ball in the gas tank?" im sorry to hear it though. i had my insurance company try not to pay me when someone totaled my car and claimed it was my fault. my lawyer tryed to bluff them but the circumstances werent right. your situation is different and i think a legal bluff might work. they dont want to go to court bc they will lose so if your lawyer contacts them saying you expect smthg or you will see them in court chances are they will settle.

did you measure from the ground to the center of the dent and from the ground up to the scuff on the jeep?

That is because THEY would have to pay for it. Looks like your screwed unless you can claim it as a hit and run which it was then pay your deductible.

The cost to fix it isn't worth bringing a lawyer into the equation.

Yes, and they are the same height

The deductible is more than half of the cost of fixing it

I for an I. Walk over there and kick the door in on the jeep. Then when they ask you if you did it, tell them you dont know what you are talking about.
I promise it always makes things so much better...lol
