CarFax? What all does a CarFax tell you? Will it give a location of the current owner or just repair info?
Anyway to get one for a one time deal without buying the whole membership?

tells you milage and location of every state inspection, title transfer, and insurance claims... Pretty much tells you all the reported history of the car and at what milage... But if it was wrecked and wasnt reported to an insurance company, its not going to show its ever been wrecked...
iv had wrecks fixed by other peoples insurance (there fault) they never show up on any of the cars iv owned when I run them.. its only good for ODO miles, owner numbers and title
I ran a carfax on my '96 after the insurance company totalled it out. It had 83k on it at the time. The carfax came back showing, in error, 158k miles on it. Someone entered the wrong data at a state inspection place.
It will also tell you if there was any frame damage. My Acura was hit hard, hard enough to do significant frame damage. It showed up in the carfax report and nobody wanted to buy it. I ended up taking far less than what it was worth.
