Default Almost free LS1

I will be picking up an LS1 this weekend it has been out side for a couple of months.. It was tarped but it was ripped up when i saw it... The headers where gone so im sure water has gottin in there .........What would you do to check this motor out????

water doesnt total motors, slap on some headers and turn it on

pshhhh, That only happens when water gets in a motor and you try and crank it, water compresses right?

Thats why he said take the plugs out. LOL If their is water in it. put some diesel in it and spin it over a few times.

I would do that anyways. No point in breaking a good motor for 15 minutes worth of work.

Why does the headers being missing have anything to do with water being in there? Was there not a hood on the car?

The engine is on a a rolling cart... Not in the car...

The plan is to pull the plugs , put it on an engine stand a flit that B*tch... Add a little WD40 ... I think the only cylinders i may need to take a look at are the ones with the valves open.....

Pull all plugs
spin motor
shoot compressed air into cylinders
pour some atf into cylinder
put in new plugs
drain oil
refill with new oil and filter
start it up

I had an family member restart an old, busted 3400 series Sunfire that had siezed up from oil starvation by pouring a capful of ATF in each cylinder.

Update...... The motor is just fine light water in one cyl. Every thing else checks out OK.... I am working on the swap right now...I will post pics soon of how I pull and LS1 with out a lift....
