Front plates
Front plates Will this state ever change the law to where we can only have just one license plate? I HATE front plates and every time i get ballsy enough to take off the front, i get to see the good ol' black and white. I love making friends!

I dont think they will.. This is 1 of those states that feel it does a good....

so for the cop to get your plate.. they have to race in front of you... slow down, and then get behind you to make sure your plates match..

it is ******* stupid... I have run around this state for the past 3 years without 1..
But when I got my new plates a few months ago.. I put one on...
But i have not gotten messed with for not having one..

I've always looked at it this way..... I never had a front plate (until the WS6.) Cops would use it as a reason to pull me over but never ticket me for it. My record is clean. So I never had worries, they just said put one on and sent me on my way. The only time it was an issue was when I got pulled over for speeding on the tollway. It was tagged on to the speeding charge. The lady at the court said no one ever puts it on and pays the smaller fine, they just shell out the cash and leave it off. So thats what I did.
Had a cop in Irving pull me over for a burnt out tailight. Firebirds have like what 6 or 8!? Anyways, showed cop the bulb reciept and said it must be a short and I'd get it fixed. He mentioned me not having a front license plate but said he never writes tickets for it unless hes adding it on to another major offense, street racing is what he said.
Clean record = dont worry about it IMO.
Pulled over for speeding or any other violation = bigger fines.
Thats just my personal experience.

I got pulled over last week for no front license plate by a state trooper,, only got a warning but got my car searched , I guess I look like a thug.
Around town I see cops at 4 way stop sings and I know they see me never got pulled over, next month will be my and the Z 2 yr anniversary

No way am I covering up my pretty little bird for an ugly Texas plate!
My husband got raffed by a cop for not having a front plate on his 77 TA but he wasn't fined. I agree with WS 666: if you've got a clean or almost-perfect record, it probably won't be a big deal. If the police are all-too-familiar with your car and you've been in some major trouble, then it may be a good idea.
It seems the license tag this is usually just an accessory to another ticket you'd get. They'll be like "Oh sir, here's your ticket for doing 60 over..and while i'm at it, here's a ticket for not having a front plate!"
My husband got raffed by a cop for not having a front plate on his 77 TA but he wasn't fined. I agree with WS 666: if you've got a clean or almost-perfect record, it probably won't be a big deal. If the police are all-too-familiar with your car and you've been in some major trouble, then it may be a good idea.

I have been pulled over 3 times by state troopers before in my '96 WS6 when I had it. I was always let off with a warning, just because the car was under my Dad's name and I would always tell them that it's my Dad's car and I know nothing about it. Now that my '00 Firehawk is underneath my name.. It still ain't going on. I had it on there for awhile, but now I got my front license plate filler. My personalized license plates should be in any time soon...
