Default LS6 Intake Manifold Questions

Okay so here's the deal.. I'm sitting at my friend's house at the moment and I find an ad on a website listing an LS6 intake for a very nice price. As far as I know, my intake is stock. I was wondering on how much of a difference the LS6 intake will give me over my stock intake.. I'm talking HP/Torque wise. Also, how can I tell if I already have an LS6 intake on my car? The previous owner didn't really tell me too much about the car whenever I bought it from him. Thanks for the help, Ryan.

Theres 2 LS6 Intakes,
put it like this, if your intake has an egr connection (or plugged hole) behind the throttle body on the top, its an LS1 intake. (could be SLP LS6 tho) lol
just buy the LS6 intake anyways, better than LS1

I just picked up 1.5 tenths and 1.5mph from this swap on my et's and trap speeds that I got tonight. Keep in mind I have lt's to help with the flow but the intake was definitely worth it and will keep being worth it with the more power you plan to make.

Roughly gains of 5-15rwhp and 5-15rwtq could be expected if you have basic bolt ons.

I understand about my cheap *** mid tubes, haha. I'm saving up to get LTs and a true dual set-up. Just everytime I have a good about to put towards mods I find something else. I had to pay $2300 yesterday to the body shop where my car is at so they took a nice load out of my wallet. Now all I have left is like $700 to play with.

Shop around like me. I was cruising in the Florida section one day and thats how I got my ceramic coated lt's and y for 200 shipped to my door. All I had to do was weld on a new o2 sensor bung from the guy ******* it up when he took them off.

I just did my LS6 Intake on my 1998 Formula last weekend with a MTi Lid and Magnaflow Catback only and I did not have any "seat of the pants" feeling. I suspect that with LT's and Y pipe I might feel something so I am crossing my fingers. Install was fairly easy if you follow the how-to's. And I ended up finding my intake for $280 so shop around! Good luck!

I've always heard that when doing the intake your won't really get the full effect of it unless your lts and a ypipe and when doing the lts and a ypipe you won't get the full effect unless you have the intake. I've done both and I did the lts with the y first and noticed a bigger gain from them than the intake. The intake no doubt picked up on et and mph though so it was well worth it. And like I said should I decide to do a cam later on it will thank me to have both in place.

With Lid and Catback I ran 13.4 @ 107 with a 2.2 60 on street tires.

But since I am on street tires I am not even sure if I could improve much. Hopefully with the LT's and Y with some drag radials I can run a 12.

You could not doubt run a 12 with those mods. You could run a twelve if you simply added drag radials into the equation. I was running 13.2@108mph on a 2.15 sixty on street tires when I had only an 80 Series flowmaster welded in and a K&n air filter. I think any car if properly tuned up and everything in order can run twelves with nothing but a lid and catback with a 2.0x sixty foot.

I have a question for you, I will upgrade sometime later to a LS6 intake, how was the install? What other parts did you have to buy to install? Gaskets? Water pipes? Any pictures or links to that info would be very helpful. My car has long tube headers, true duals, no cats, also car no longer has the EGR valve and most of the emmisions equipment has been removed and car is tuned for that, all I need is now the intake and related parts, and some enlightment of what it takes to install, such as related parts to buy. I apologize for the hijack....

Yeah what he said! ^

To make it simple:

Read this: http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5 ...Also I believe connexion has a video but I have not seen it yet?
Purchase:
(1) LS6 Intake ($280-$330 All day)
Some sorta tool to knock off the ribs of the intake.
Re-use your LS1 intake gaskets.
Source 2 oil pressure sending units BEFORE you start the swap.
To make it easier find someone that has done the swap before, that is the best tool possible.
