Just from what I've experienced on my truck (also a Dodge), those computer calculated MPG estimates are WAY off.

On my 2007 Suburban and my 2007 Jeep, it is accurate to the 1/10th of an MPG. In other words, mine have been dead accurate.

All of my GM vehicles since 04' have usually been dead on accurate when it comes to their MPG readings as well.

I hava a Magnum R/T, I average about 21 mpg mixed driving and about
24 mpg on the highway. I am running a Superchips programmer on the
89 octane tune. I like everything about my car, plenty of room, lots of
power, handles great for a wagon, and sounds excellent with flowmaster
exhaust. Good luck with your choice..........

but the R/Ts switch to 4cyl when on the highway. so no doubt your mpg should be better....

as far as for the orignal poster. If you get serious about buying one. You should check out chargerforums.com. thats where my buddy bought his. He got a good deal on it and he bought it from a guy that was trusted throughout. So it was a win/win for him.

Unless your talking about buying a used one It's close enough now that I'd wait for the second year Challenger SRT8. Right now they only list 3 exterior color choices but I'll wait for Sub Lime. BTW Dodge updated the site today with more pics and video.

Hey Charger r/t , do you have any gripes about the car? What warranty do you have? As soon as I get this RX8 paid for in a month or so I am going to test drive one. I want to buy a used one I never have or never will buy a new car. I have had real good luck with all my used cars that I have bought, knock on wood.

Thanks for the feedback guys its appreciated .
no real gripes. The only problem I have had is a transmission leak(they ALL have it) which was a quick fix under warranty. It is just a seal. Other than that, NO complaints. I love the looks, power, and attention. I think it is the most agressive looking car other than the WS6 and ZO6. You should for sure check out chargerforums.com my name over there is chargerR/T8604. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

Most stock or lightly modded GC SRT8s 0-60 in 4.0 flat and run 13.0-13.20 in the quarter. That is no joke. The mileage is not too great on the highway because of the gearing, but there are few cars that can 60' in 1.80 seconds in the rain or dry. Don't get caught sleeping at a stoplight against an all wheel drive 6.1L Hemi Jeep.
I had one sneak up on me and that sumbitch was QUICK.....had the kids in the car so I gave him a "lil somethin" but I was impressed.......

As for the MDS, Multi Displacement System, on the regular 5.7 HEMIs.... You will switch to 4cyl when you are cruising at 50-70mph and the computer sees less then 20%throttle for a period of more then 2mins. As soon as you give it more then 20%, it automatically bumps the other 4 cyls on. So unless you strictly cruise highway, you wont benefit from it at all. I work for a Dodge/Chrylser/Jeep dealer here in Va.

i wasnt impressed with the SRT8. They are starting to become common around town. The only way to get an opinion tho is to go drive one yourself. Also dodge is the worst when it comes to EPA mileage. My srt4 when I had one said 18 city and 30+ hwy....yeah that **** was a complete lie. Dodge vehicles get probably the worst gas mileage out of any make. If you want a used one though I know where there is one. If you are interested PM me

WTF was this advice at the last Midnight Madness at San Antonio Raceway when I needed it!? Guy beat my stock SS 13.1 @ 105 by .008 with only a handheld tuner mod! Off the line the thing looked like it inhaled the 60ft. I pulled back up on him all the way to his front bumper down the 1/4. Just not enough to claim winner. Bad MF'ers indeed! Of all the SRT-8's vehicles available buy the GC or wait for the coveted Challenger. The SRT-8 Chargers are too heavy and their over rated little brother the Hemi Charger is a *****. A vehicle released far after the introduction of the LS1 and still gettting waxed?...Might as well badge it a Mustang...weaksauce!
