You must not follow the stories where the criminals that break into homes & get shot by the owner & live take the home owner to court, sue them & win....RULE 1 with guns, never point them at anything you don't want to kill. If someone points a gun at me, I assume they will kill me & will retaliate with deadly force....PERIOD. Do you think he cares about you rehabilitating your flaws when he pulled that gun to rob you or jack your car? ******* liberal mentality will be the undoing of this country.

I think you don't have near enough experience with guns & would **** your pants & not be able to hit the side of the Astrodome if this happened to you, much less tactically place a round in his leg to disable but not kill him. Oh, and if you hit the artery in the leg, he'll just bleed out & die slower, better to just put him out of his misery. Even hunting is totally different than just plinking at a farm or at the range.

Well said (except for the 'fleas' part....he'd itch if he had fleas, but he may flee the crime scene

Edit: BTW, if someone shot me in the foot or leg, I'd be ******* pissed, not only would I not be able to flee because I couldn't run because of the gunshot wound, I'd be popping who ever shot me with 2 in the chest & one in the head....just like I practice...pop, pop......pop.

Not sure if i would want a gun in my car all the time. the GF says she would feel uncomfortable riding with me. i admit i would feel uncomfortable too, since i wasnt raised around guns.

violence in america has reached an irresponsibly high mark. what gets into these people? I wonder if the robber knew Jesus?
Clueless.

Go take the Texas CHL class and report back to us on what you learn. You don't shoot to injure, you shoot to kill. Otherwise those f-ckers will sue you and win a civil suit because you injured them and they can't work anymore. Screw that, you come at me with a gun, you get killed.

I love stories like this, I hope any would be robbers read this as well. I have my CHL but my wife does not. I have wanted her to go get hers for years so if and when she ever needs it, she will know instinctively what to do! Shoot to kill! If your life is on the line from some scumbag, you never increase that risk by shooting them in the leg. There is a reason they have a gun pointed at you, and it is not because they care. They WILL retaliate! Thanks for a great post!

I thought it was shoot to stop? Not saying you are wrong, but an army SF buddy of mine who posts here or used to post here recently took the CHL class and he told me what he learned since I was supposed to take it with him at Top Gun. That would be a very intense moment, pulling the trigger with the cross hairs right between that person's eyes. BYE BYE

Just make sure when you're talking to the cops, you fired until the threat stopped, not until he was dead lol.

ckyconan2003:

Deadly force is used (legally) when your life is in danger. Lets see...how best to put this... Ever been in a car wreck you saw coming, or a very near miss? You remember that feeling of horror you had? Well take that, and that massive amount of adrenaline, then top it off with the fear that you're possibly about to die. How accurately and fast do you think you can make a "non lethal" wounding shot? On top of that, if you're in that type of situation, you need to stop the threat NOW. Just like if you're about to have a car wreck, you dont apply the breaks just enough to soften the impact, you plant the pedal to the floor because you want to stop right the **** now.

To get the threat stopped, you want this person incapacitated asap. Otherwise, they are still a threat, unless you get lucky and at the sight of the gun they haul ***. But are you willing to bet on your life thats what theyll do? In these types of situations, when you draw your weapon, you are doing so expecting to the pull the trigger on this person. If something changes before then and you dont, then great. Always shoot at vital organ areas, and shoot a lot, until they are no longer a threat to you.

BTW-shooting someone in the leg can be very deadly if you hit the femoral artery.

Also guys, new laws went into effect in Sept. A person legally justified in shooting in defense of themselves or others has civil suit immunity.

"Shoot him just to injure him and not kill him".

Why stop there? Just ask him first where he would like for you to shoot him before he gets a chance to get a head shot on you right? Then see if he's nice enough to tell you how much he's going to sue you for because he survived and wasnt incapitated to not take you to court.

Mr. SJRTX AKA Gun Bitch is correct. LOL! F'n Jay.

Whenever you pull your weapon, you shoot to incapacitate the threat. If you try to go off and plink the guy in his limbs, you will most likely get into law trouble. If you pound 5 to 8 rounds into his chest, then you were literally trying to stop this man in his tracks. He dies because you were trying to stop him from endangering your lives and the people around you.

End of thread.

Well it's good to see that racial comments are "OK" on this board...

But back to the subject..

If you have some creep trying to attack you or your family...I have to agree with everyone else on here. You NEED to shoot to stop. You CAN NOT afford to take the risk of doing anything less.Yes many criminals will flee at the first sign of a botched robbery but,is that really a chance you are willing to take?

You know what, I'm sick of all the incessant call for political correctness, political correctness can kiss my natural Texas born ***! People just need to quit being cry babies about racial comments that aren't made in hate or violent manners. If you don't like the stereo types put forth for your race, change them. Drive around Houston & see what % of lawn services hire Hispanic workers. And that area is like little Mexico, I eat lunch over there a couple times a week, I should know. If people want to be so diverse why do so many ethnic groups congregate & for the most part live in little ethnic pockets? if you don't have thick enough skin to admit racial truths. People will always be different, alway grow up with different values, just tolerate/celebrate the differences & laugh at the funny **** & F'k the rest.
