Dad is in the hospital, let him be in your prayers.
Had mine taken out last summer. The surgery is not bad at all. If everything goes as planned he will have 3 little scars. No change in lifestyle(food etc) needed afterwards. Good luck.

Had mine removed 3 years ago, was at home watching TV in the shop by 11:00am and back in the office the following day against my doctors better wishes but I felt well enough to return.
