A / C Troubleshoot Anybody around the NW San Antonio area know where I can get an honest diagnosis on my A/C. I think the compressors out......fan works...no cold air though....it was making racket....finally the racket quit and so did the cold air.....
New gm compressor dryer, orifice and more than likely a condensor is what it will need. Oil, refrigerant, orings, compressor belt and labor it will be pretty close to a grand at most shops. The reason the condensor needs to be replaced is because the compressor exploded internally and grenaded through the system. That is why the noise quit when the cold air quit. If you can't find anyone there shoot me a pm we have a shop an hour south of SA. While you are at it I would suggest changing the suction discharge hose assembly. They have a propensity for leaking in the discharge line from the compressor to the condensor.
Clutch engages and disengages when I turn the a/c off and on......system is still presurized, just wont blow cold......probably the compresser.......how would the compressor damage the system if it quits.....?
