They should be able to cut you a key off of the vin but most dealers will require you to bring the title of the vehicle in with a matching photo ID.

Also, if it's a newer one with the electronic key, the truck will have to be towed to the dodge dealer so that they can program the key. It's not cheap. Get ready to pay close to $200 for the key/remote and probably another $100 for programming.

I didn't even think about that being a Dodge. I work at an Acura dealer and our cars are the same way. **** adds up quick!

Well yes, those cars do but they used the old style 2 key system. I'm talking about 2003-later cars. Some don't have chips at all but almost every new car now has one embedded in the key where you can't see it.

I'm not positive but I don't think your truck has the chip in the key. I could be wrong. You'll need to call the dealer to make sure.

If the head of your old key was black it didn't have a transponder, and if it was gray it did. So, if it was black you can just get them to cut you one, if not you will need to call a locksmith to program you one (cheaper than towing). I made and programmed those keys for $125 but most places in decent sized cities charge $200 for your key. Get two keys at once, it's generally only $15-$10 for the 2nd one at the same time. Where are you located in Texas?
