Default Idea of how to drop gas prices

This is something that has gotten completely out of hand! We as a country kinda have to take partial of the blame. Because as our society is we rely so heavy on fosil fuel that the oil company's can dictate to us what we will pay for gas!! This should change!!!
Now the "Dont buy gas on this day" thing absoluteyl does not work, the companys just make up for the next day.
HOWEVER... This theory would work. Especially if we hit the leader such as EXXON/MOBILE!!!

I will do my part in this so SHOULD YOU!!!! READ BELOW!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer, and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.19 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 -$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. And under no circumstances buy from CITCO. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x10 =3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all! (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one. How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days !!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL
THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
It would have been better if you would have said "send it to your 10 closest friends, or you'll be haunted by bad luck for 300 million years."
Yeah...it'll work. It has to. Chain letters always do.
and this idea has gone around for about 8 years now. . . .never accomplished, nor will it ever work. Can't get 260 million people 'sync'd' up to do this...
another problem with this is Exxon/Mobil are one of the big supplier's of FLEET credit accounts and alot of company's use their Gas only and have accounts setup with them, ive worked for a couple of company's who have this and use huge trucks and fill them bitches up daily, so theyll still make money regardless. .... i say blow them bitches up and take their oil lmfao.
Forget about gas prices dropping. I don't think they will ever go below $2.50 again. They will continue to go up and up. Personally, I don't think that is a bad thing (preparing to be flamed). The stone age didn't end becuase they ran out of stones! Enter alternative fuels, alternative energy....
They all sell gas to each other anyhow & it doesn't usually become proprietary until it gets to the distribution terminal where the mix in the additives. In other words, when you go to Valero, you may be buying gas that was refined by Exxon.
On a board like this, where 99.2% of the members here own at least one V8 powered vehicle in the household, I don't think we have a right to bitch.
And especially Texans, if you commute to work daily in a full-size truck, that's fine with me, but it gives ya'll an even less of a reason to complain about gas prices.
Any of you who think that alternative fuels will ever overtake fossil fuels are just ignorant. The government makes TOO MUCH GAT DAMN MONEY from taxing the oil that they would never even consider giving it up for alternative fuel.
As for not buying gas from Exxon/Mobil, they sell other products such as lubricants/oils for other industries and make a killing on that too.
Just calculate the gas you use in your budget next time and ask you boss for a raise...
Just imagine..."Exxon Bank" signs in place of "Capital One" signs... It will eventually happen.
This is exactly true. The only person you would be hurting is the sevice station owners.
Yup, they pay for the gas when the truck arrives. So whether or not you buy, the big boys have already been paid.
And this is not a great idea, this is a stupid idea. There is a reason this email has been circulating for 8 years and NEVER happened. As it has been pointed out several times, big oil doesn't just sell gas. So if you really want to hurt the middle man, go for it. Dont be surprised if those gas prices rise though.....
Actually most service stations sell gas on consignment. The middle man(company) calls them whenever there is a price change and prices are adjusted at the pump.
The only way to force gas prices lower is to not use gas. Supply and demand.
