quick dmax question

im looking at possibly getting me a dmax truck. i was told all of them have the allison trans in it. is this true or how can i tell if it has it in it. thanks.

duramax? yes, the new gas engines that are max or whatever I dont know 100% if they do or dont, but with the diesel if its an auto then yes, otherwise you could get a manual thats not allison built. but on either one theres a sticker on the side that lets you know youve got a badass tranny

well some just say durmax and ive seen others say allison. well i think i have. thanks for the info. for any reference its an 04 duramax 4x4

'05 and newer have the Allison as well, but dont say it on the badge. '06 up say it on the badge. Just dont get an '03 or older, unless you like to have the truck in the shop for warranty work on the injectors.

Oops I meant '05 and older. '04 and up are supposed to of fixed the injector issues. The difference for '06+ is the 6 speed transmission vs. 5 speed.

ok so they all came with the allison but the 06 and up came with the 6 speed vs the 5 speed. thanks for the help!

i dont need the badge just the tranny

I agree, the 6 speed is a blast to drive. Put an exhaust and programmer on it and really outrun most every "normal" vehicle on the street. I have embarrassed a couple GTs and other random import sporty cars.

What Mike said. '06 or '07 CLASSIC. The '06 and newer have the badge that says Duramax and Allison. '07 new body style has their emblem on the hood. If the emblem just says Duramax, it's a '05 or older.

'06 came out with the 6 speed Allison automatics with manual shift. If has the +/- button on the shifter, it's sweet.

The newer body style does have emissions if I remember correctly.
