Default The new C6 wheels are on!

And I have to say that I'm am floored with the results, pun intended.

First off I have to say I've never really been a fan of aftermarket wheels. Well, not to the point where I actually wanted to buy a set for my ride. That's because of the few aftermarket wheels I've liked I've found that after a given amount of time they no longer appeal to me. And the ones that I do like, the very few, are priced at a point that I think is ridiculous. I have no problem with those that like the expensive wheels, more power to them. I just can't justify spending thousands of dollars on wheels that I may not like anymore in a year. That being said when I saw the C6's for the first time my thought was, "Now, if Chevrolet still made a 4th Generation Camaro the wheels would look very similiar to these." The snowflakes were ok, nothing special. In fact they were very bland with the futuristic styling of the 4th Generation Camaro. The C6's on the other hand, to me, have a timelessness, a classic styling that I think will stay fresh for years to come, completely devoid of any trendy styling that may age them. The main problem I found with them was they tend to not photograph very well. Or that they look odd on certain size combinations on other owner's cars. In my mind's eye I could see them on my car and after seeing them finally on it I have to say I think they look better than I imagined.

The wheels are 18x9.5 on the front and 18x10.5 (from LM Performance) on the rears. The tires are the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta in 35/275 front, 35/295 rear (from Tomzwheels). No spacers were needed. The only modification we had to do as beat in the little bit of sheetmetal on the driver's side that hangs down between the tire and the control arm. And even then it was about 3mm's with a rubber mallet. We also used a floor jack to raise the car via the rear axle to clear the axle bump stops when putting the rear wheels on. There were no clearance issues at all on the front hubs.

That being said, here of the first photos of them on C-HOG.

I thought they were doing away with the C-HOG and the 20mm's were going to be an ordnance option only? Sweet deal if they did decide to update it rather than get rid of it!

Thanks for the compliments, Joe & Mike. And, yes, I'm heading out now. Going to enjoy this weather and hopefully make it down to the Bay Area Cruisers meet in League City tonight and hopefully meet Mr & Miss Trans Am. Call me on my cell if you need to get a hold of me.

OUT!

The C6 wheels are a nice improvement. Good to hear that you did not have to do much to get the rear wheels on.

I like the newer C6 wheels, but those look good.

How do you like the Vredesteins? I'm debating on them or the Kumho MX. Leaning toward the MX for a softer compound though.

I got the badges/decals from Maryland Speed but I don't think they're selling them anymore. I'm not sure who they got them from, they are kind of hard to find now, or at least I haven't seen anyone else selling them.

So far I like the Vredestein's ok but then I've only been driving them for 2 days. As soon as our monsoon season hits I'll give you a better idea of how they drive. The car actually feels like a Z28 now with them, that's how stiff they are.

I have never been a fan of any vette wheels on f-body cars at all, but these look very sharp on your car!

Peace,
Craig.

Again, thanks for the positive feedback. As for right now I plan on keeping the snowflakes in case I have to make a long distance roadtrip. But, hey, everything has it's price! Make me an offer.
