I was at that show as well. Your right, great show! Straight into Tom Sawyer. But what was up with the laundry machines on stage?

They sound great outdoors too. They are coming to Houston again next month. I've been to so many Rush shows I don't know if I'm going to make this one (getting alittle burned out on Rush) and I haven't heard a good studio album from them in a long time. But I might just change my mind at the last minute and go.

Yeah, the media and marketing companies pretty much have labeled that entire era of music as "hair bands".Namely because of bands like Poison,Warrant,LA Guns,Britney Fox,Cinderella...etc...Which tended to make musicianship a 2nd to hair spray and make up...

No offense to fans of those bands but,I don't think they were ever on the same level as some of the bands like the harder groups or bands like Rush.

As for Loudness, weren't they some Japanese metal band??

Rush and Pearl Jam come after the above. Along with STP, CCR, and a bit of Bon Jovi. I don't like U2 much or Dan Foggleberg..... but Keith Whitley is the bomdiggityshiznit!

LOL yes, the Japanese version of the hair style band. It was just amusing trying to find their accent in some of their songs while some of the words they hit on the head without an accent.

You can't really talk about Rush and bands like Pearl Jam, STP in the same sentence. Don't get me wrong, I like all those bands, but Rush is clearly in a league all their own. True, their studio stuff lately has been lackluster for a long time, but their live acts cannot be matched by very many bands, especially newer ones. They've really got their live act down.

I saw Maiden 3 times; Powerslave (Houston), Somewhere In Time (Chicago), and Seventh Son (Richmond, Va.)...all from floor seating. Great shows.

I remember all the 80's videos, thank you for that clip. I was a headend tech for the Katy cable tv company back in 1981. Launching MTV was a giant ordeal.

I remember August of 1981 very well. I flipped the switch and brought the fine people of Katy, Texas.. "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles LOL. Cool time, we got sweet t-shirts, mugs, caps, and I got to meet Nina Blackwood!

I know how you feel most of the kids responding here and there weren't even a splatter mark on the bathroom wall when these bands debuted. I remember hearing some of those songs fairly often around that time frame, now you can't even find them on the radio. KLOL always played the best ones. Are they even around anymore.

Yup, Clear Creek High School class of '86 here. Do you remember when 97 Rock gave away all of those free Corvettes? I don't know how many times I called in trying to win one. I think it was 20 Corvettes over the summer, '84 I think it was. Cruising Center Street and Westheimer. Hell, back then it wasn't uncommon to get a 4-lane drag race going. That was a sight, 4 cars from a standing start all in a row. Good times, man...good times.

I missed passing by and seeing that metalic-skull KLOL billboard with the lightning bolt going through it's head. Then there was the year the whole billboard was covered with what seemed like sequins! Anybody still have their Rubik's cube?

Oh, and another thing. A trip to Galveston in the summer time wasn't done with out Van Halen on the tape deck. Roth-era only.

Grim, do you remember Linda Silk's 'Metal Shop' on 101? Only place we could get our metal on the radio.
