Default Car Will not start..

Battery is fine, all the gauges come on and the radio comes on, but when i go to turn the key the car will not turn over at all. I tried to remote start it at first, and got nothing out of it. then i tried it with the key. Nothing..

All the lights and gauges are on, the car was running fine two nights ago. And yes i did let the car sit, i took out the remote battery, pulled the battery out of the car, and let the car reset itself, and nothing works.

Could it be the starter? or a relay, and how do i check?

I dont think its the VATS because the security light is off.

Your starter solenoid is probably bad... Does it click at all when you try to start it? How's the battery? take it out and have it tested

M6??? or A4???

That sounds a lot like a solenoid to me... also could be the neutral safety switch too. Try jiggling the shifter, moving it in and out of the gears. Also try it in Neutral

My girlfriends z was doing exactly the same, I found that it had a aftermarket alarm installed with no key fob. Uninstalled it and it fired right up.

Hit the starter with a hammer? Did you just get pissed and that was a last-resort?

I've smacked my fair share of starters over the years. Works like a charm.

I had a '94 S-10 with about 10 teeth sheared off of the flywheel. If I killed it, and it landed in that zone, the starter would just spin. I'd have to stick a screw driver in the bellhousing and rotate it a few degrees so it would have some teeth to catch.

I did this for about 3 months.

There is also a relay in the fuse boxes that can work on and off.

Not the VATS. So much for my diagnostic skills. I'm glad you figured it out. Tapping the starter is an old trick
