Default What is next?

so i have 02 z28 auto full exhaust a lid and im ready to buy gears im not going to race it very often unless its from a dead if that matters so 3.73's or 4.10s? i have 315 35 17 tires i hear that ment i could go with a bigger gear but im not for sure if thats true or not. Then should i start buying head and cam or go with a stall? i eventually want both but what do i do first? im thinking some where between a 3200 and a 3600 stall and a small to medium cam whats going to do me good in the 1/4 and anything from a dead?

bigger the stall you get, bigger the cam you can handle. i have a perfect sized cam on a 2K stall and built tranny runs like stock. if your getting a cam in 220s range stock stall is fine. if you want 230s area the 3K range is better to have. gears won't hurt either, 3.73s are a good ratio to and you won't lose alot of MPH or gas mileage.

While a stock converter may be fine for a small cam, you would still see a benefit from getting a looser converter. I've seen several f-bodies run ~1/2 sec quicker with that mod alone on a bolt-on engine. Stay stock if you want, but you're leaving a lot on the table.

As for which converter for your set up, talk to a professional. I know Gilbert at Ace spends a lot of time on the phone just answering questions for people.

what gears do u have right now? if u have 3.23 then you should just roll with those for the mean time. i would go ahead and definitely get a stall. make sure u get a stall before a cam. im running a vigilante 3200 stall and its a good all around daily driver stall. another stall that is popular is the yank SS3600 stall.
