Default co-signed for a car, now we got troubles

well i co-signed for my gf's car back in march. things are getting a little bad between us, not saying were going to break up, but lets just say we were to break up, what are my options as far as keeping my good credit. i dont want the shitty car, she can have it, my main concern is if she dont keep up with the payments, i dont want it to ruin my credit, any advice here? and no, she doesnt have good credit at all, thanks fellas

Sounds like you're in a bad spot there. If things don't work out, I would try and get the car back and sell it for whatever you can get. Otherwise, when she stops making payments on it for whatever reason, you're SOL. Or if she's a bad driver, just make sure you have full coverage so it will be paid off when she wrecks it.

Tell her to refinance it in her name or sell it.

If she doesn't pay, you do. Get the car, sell it and pay off the loan. I've been there.

I seen this 1k times, Get the car back no if and or butts. No matter how nice you are u will loose in the end if she keeps that car. It will give her some control over you trust me. If she can refinance let her do it. But to be honest call the bank befor yall break up and seek info on her financing it. I know some banks if you tell them whats up they will do anything to get u out of that car.

I wouldn't even co-sign for my own children. If you want to help somebody, it's better to just donate the cash. It's your credit they will screw up and that will last for 7 long years on your records.

One of my friends is in the same situation. She was making payments but now she stopped and they call him to collect. well finally she brought car back so i suggest you just find someone who can take over payment or sell car and then take personal loan out and pay it off. Least ur credit will be ok.Because if car get repo. For 7 years you won't get no house or car credit. One of my friends is working at the Bank he said rules changed. If they see car repo. Thats it.

Option 1: Keep the car and sell.
