Default This is how weak a 10 bolt is

with 4.10 gears.

This car is a 160xxx mile L98, converted to carb with supercomp headers and straight pipe. Not much power at all, this pass was the second, first pass was 13.87 at 101 mph, so really, not much power, i had 30 lbs in the slicks to try and prevent over hooking and i launched around 2400, not dumping the clutch but not feathering the hell out of it ither.

How long do you guys thing this rearend will last with 3.73 gears? I have not taken it apart to see what kind of hears they were but the rearend did not make any noise before hand.

Its weak because they actually use lego technology and the gears are the same ones found in K'NEX toys.

That was at HRP, i broke my car, and my buddy broke his El Camino, so after dropping his car off we had to go all the way back and pick up mine, was kind of a long night.

Sorry about your luck. I was in line about four cars behind you when it snapped. I have a 10 bolt with stock 6spd gears if you are in a pinch for an axle.

how much does it cost to rebuild a 10bolt "x" amount of times vs. buying a 12bolt to begin with.....

save your money and get a 12 bolt.

its cheaper to do things once and correctly, then redo something 5 times....

Yea, i installed the old 2.73 drum rear today, dogged it and i can FINALLY hear the lower end making noise, the oil pressure has been all fucked up for the longest and just started getting my attention.

Yea, i have another 10 bolt to go into it, it is a direct bolt in dana 44, which is .25 smaller than a 12 bolt chevy. Should hold me over for a long time, a friend that has one has not had a single issue so i should be ok with it.

Here is pics of the carnage...

Since the 89 is making noise on the bottom end, i olmost have all the parts needed for the 95 to get back up and running, so soon to be riding in a 4ht gen again.

Well, th Dana 44 better not do that, its gonna be a while now. I am getting my 4th gen going again and the 89 will be on the back burner till the big nasty bruiser is going again.
