Thinking Convert.
Just looking for advice for other convertable cars that someone might of had. I was kinda thinking J-body (cavalier/sunfire) They are cheap, run good, get good gas mileage, and I could do liability on a car like that. Has anyone ever had one? Or had another convertable they might of liked? Just looking for some opinions. Thanks.
Anyhow...
I can tell you this from working in the insurance business...Don't get all caught up in the whole convertible costs more. A convertible F-body for example actually cost less than a hardtop edition on insurance. Every car is different and you must get a quote to be certain. Color doesn't matter either by the way...PERIOD!
In your case "cavalier/sunfire" we don't even has a designation for convertible...just 2 or 4 door.
You can do liability on ANY car if you have elected to pay it off in full and are the sole owner of the title. It doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do though. You have to be certain you are protecting you investment and prepared to re-purchase a car yourself in th event its stolen/totaled/ect. This is a how much does insurance cost + my deductible vs. saving the money to replace myself in event of loss question. Not ITS PAID OFF!
The styling between the two is literally like the Camaro vs. Firebird imo. One is round/smooth (cavalier) the other is more in your face and pointy with lots mo' lines (sunfire). I find the cavalier a bit more manly simply because young ladies tend to be found driving sunfires more from my experience. Other than that they are basically the same damn car besides the body. GM built.
Something also to consider is that for the same price there are far better cars out there that will walk the a$$ off these cars in the gas mileage department. You sir should compare it to a Camaro/Firebird in that respect. I get damn near the same as my girls 5 cylinder VW Jetta by 4 miles to the gallon. Her parents couldn't believe my mileage in a sports car when I told them...+1 to the Ls1 crowd!
I drive a 95 neon right now for DD and I wouldnt mind a Convert..... And they dont make conv neons.....
