need an engine stand for the ell-ess-won

need an engine stand for the ell-ess-won thats right, im getting close to pulling that sucker out and building it myself
dont have a cherry picker, but im gonna borrow that
just need the stand now, and i doubt anyone will loan me one for 2 months or so
sooo, will a standard stand work, or is this motor so damn different that i have to fab up a mounting plate?
i can get a new "generic" stand at this local discount tool shop for $35
and friend of mine bought 1, and put an LT1 on it, then later put his 13B rotary on it, but had to make a custom plate for it, he said its the best deal he's seen

Re: need an engine stand for the ell-ess-won Just your basic 4-point adjustable attachment, small block chevy type engine stand will work. You will just need 10mm bolts to bolt the block up to it.

Re: need an engine stand for the ell-ess-won Yup Tony's correct. I bought a AC Delco Stand at Orileys for like 50 bucks. Worked great for my LS1 Swap. Also get Grade 8 bolts 10mm and make sure they are long enough at least 3 inches. And have fun LS1's are so easy to tear down. I had the heads off and the cam out in about a hour and i was taking my time.

Re: need an engine stand for the ell-ess-won We use standard SBC four post engine stands. A little word to the wise if I may, be sure that you have a clear shot to the rear oil galley plug. Sometimes the posts of the stand can get in th way which can make install and removal a real pain. Just my .02

Re: need an engine stand for the ell-ess-won I paid $35 each on sale for 2 1000 lb. stands at harbor freight, one held a complete 429 cobrajet big block. thats the biggest race motor my shop has built.
