Power Invertor and Cigarette Plug Air Compressor Hey guys... dunno if this is the right section but I'm in the market for these two items and wanted to hear what your opinions were on which brands to go for and where to get them?
I've been wanting a power invertor for a while for the long road trips we take, it'd be nice to be able to plug my laptop into something.
I've also been thinking about picking up one of those air compressors for if we ever have a flat tire. Like I said, we go on long road trips sometimes so this would be good to have if the emergency ever arised...

how much you looking to spend ?
power invertor you need a better one that has volt stable chips installed so it keeps the labtop in the volt range so it doesnt surg when the alt kicks in.
and for the aircompressor im looking for one too, but not the really cheaps one looking to spend at least 60 anyone have ideas?

I have the "Truck Air" compressor that's about $40 from WalMart...it's not the best or quickest compressor out there, but it's worth the price that you pay for it. Can't remember which power inverter that I have, but it's one of the higher amp ones that clamps directly on the battery.
yea I'm looking for a power invertor that just plugs into the cigarett lighter... ya know for road trips and stuff. I don't have an in dash DVD player, nor can I afford one

Problem with the cigarette lighter inverters is the are very limited in the wattage you can run because most lighters are only 10-20A circuits. Even if its a 400W unit plugging it into a lighter will limit it to around 200W or so before it starts to pop the cigarette lighter's fuse. Best bet is to get a decent one and hard wire it just like a car stereo amp of the same wattage. I have a 1200W one hard wired into my car and love it. It saved my parents house from flooding when the electrictity went out by powering the sump pump. also powered lights and tools of all sorts.
picked up a radio shack #22-155 350watt inverter a couple years ago. Use it for laptop,when battery drops,and a 110v trouble light,I travel a lot. Plugs into cig.lighter,sits under pass.seat for easy reach to turn on.
