Default Tool Aid Tools

Anybody have any experience with Tool Aid brand tools.
I'm looking at a wire crimper from them which is really nice (at least through my web browser ) and at a really good price.

Here it is:

This looks like it will perform the correct style crimp for HP Metri-Pak and Weather-pak type connection (which are all over GM cars and many others).

any details on it?

looks nice. I have a packard tool, for the 280/150 series metripacks, works well, but is not as heavyduty as that one looks, plus you can't swap dies in the one i have

retail is $160 for the one i have, i paid $72 shipped for it.

if you could PM me the link to that one, i would appreciate it.

Ryan.

No problem..
You can get it here: http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/TA-18920.html
or here: http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/ta18920.html

I just ordered it from thetoolwarehouse.. along with:
Lisle Bearing Race and seal driver set (for when I install my 4:10's )
OTC 2/3 jaw 5 ton puller (for when I pull my balancer to install cam )
Lisle Power/Ground outlet (It just looks handy so I got it.. )

All for $144.43.. not bad.

sweet, i found the link, after searcing yahoo for them

can you do me a favor when you get them, and take a detailed pic of the dies, with something for a size reference (quarter, ect) so i can see what they can be used for?

remember for sealed weatherpack, and metripack connectors, you need round dies too, to seal the weatherseals

Thanks

Ryan,

slow:
I just got my Tool Aid crimper the other day..
My digital camera currently has the dreaded canon E18 error so I gotta borrow a friends to get you some pictures.... I will.

The tool is very nice.. good quality. Comes with 5 dies:
1. 18921 For insulated terminals 22-10awg
2. 18922 For non insulated open barrel connectors 22-10awg
3. 18923 For fully insulated quick disconnect terminals with thinner wire barrels 22-10awg
4. 18924 For non insulated terminals 22-8awg
5. 18925 For miniature insulated rings, spade and butt splices 26-16awg.

Die #2 is the style crimp for metripak/weatherpak connectores. The die has 3 sizes on one side and 3 on the other. However, like you said, I don't see a round die to crimp the cable seals like this:

There is one die that may work.. It does have 3 round crimping dies but I'm not sure, I'll have to actually crimp a connector with it but I think it would be a PIA because you'd have to change the dies to crimp a single connector.

Otherwise, I like the crimper a lot. I definately think it's a good tool to have. Better then the standard snap-on/channel locks styel crimper.

i find a standard crimper, for insulated connectors work fine for the weather seals, the blue size, just position it right, and it will do the job.

this is my metripack tool

But i think i may buy that tool in the future to do the other open connectors, and such, as other than the weather/metri pack stuff, i just have the last kind shown.
