You're probably gonna want a Haynes Manual, as it it more in depth. The Helm Manual are the ones that are in the glove compartment when you purchase the vehicle new.

Helm does have repair manuals, earlier in the thread someone was asking for the factory manual. I got my set from HELM. If you go to their website they've got manuals for different things. I was trying to answer different questions with one answer. My bad for not being clear.

Helms manual are the service manuals used at the Dealership.. written by GM, published by Helms. This is the book that you want. They are $120. Haynes and chilten manuals are for the weekend warrior.. Helms are for the technicians. Get the Helms. I did.

I bought the 2002 Firebird/Camaro manuals form http://www.helminc.com Like stated earlier, it is 3 volumes of books, about 8" thick. Just a little light reading.

Helm's Manual for a 98 Camaro 3.8 V-6
Does anyone know where I can get the Helm manual for a 98 Camaro with a 3.8 V-6 engine with an automatic trans? Looking for the dash gauge cluster wiring diagrams. You can email me if you like at: kamaki8@hawaii.rr.com.

As has been said, the Helm manuals ARE the GM factory service manuals - Helm is just their publisher. These books are correct at the time of publication, but, since some of our cars are getting a bit elderly . . . you might want to also spend a day checking TSB's (service bulletins) and printing out the more interesting ones. If I remember right, you can get full access to the GM service info for a day for $20:

Unless you're an experienced technician, it's still good to get a Haynes manual, since it will fill in some of the details of the repairs that are assumed by the FSM.
My job is writing and editing auto repair manuals. I find the more information I can get, the better. And GM manuals these days are getting pretty hard to use.
