Specs for air compressor
Specs for air compressor What are you guys using? My buddy is a weekend warrior and the compressor will likely see several rear ends, clutchs, engines, and trannies. In other words, no body work. 
He'd like to pick one up at Home Depot or someplace similar. What does he need to look for?

It all depends on personal preference. I got a Craftsman for a little under $300. Its 150psi, 30 gallon, oil-less, 110volt. It is sufficient for most everything I do, but I'm not completely happy with it.
If I had to do it over, I'd pick up the Husky one I saw at Home Depot last weekend. It's a 60 gallon, 220 volt, oiled compressor. I'd mount it in the basement or attic above the garage and hard plumb it in. Best of all, its only $399. It's really more than I need, but bigger is better sometimes and it would be nice to have the extra resevoir of air when I do pull out the cutoff wheel or die grinder.
If you have the space for it, and the extra money, that's the route I'd go. Oil, because its quieter, 220 volt because it will refill quicker, and larger volume for more run time before the compressor kicks back on.

I have a crapsmutt too - $350 for a 30 gallon oil-less. I too wish I had the Depo man's 60 gallon oil unit...
Also check out the $400 unit in harbor freight - it looks really good for the price...i heard the depo compressors blow up a lot but I can;t confirm that,....
