240v Welder - Question
I was looking into 120v welders but figured I could spend a bit more and grab a 240v for the “future”.
Problem is.. I have a detached garage with no 240v hookup. The box is faarrr away.
my question is.. can I use a 50’ 240v cord from the basement to run the welder efficiently?
This is what I run, also if you are looking to get into a decent 240 volt machine, check out the new Hobart Iron Man 240. It’s a bad *** machine for the money. It’s built on the same line as the Miller 252 and has the same internals the low output unit only but is missing the digital readouts. 280 amps full tilt, it laughs at 1/2”. No need to build a cart with the built in running gear and you can run a real bottle.

Got mine from Bakers gas last month at $1,450 no tax free shipping. The prices keep going up on it.
