Mig ?
Mig ? Is it possible to use a mig welder instead of a tig welder and how would the welds come out. I know if changing from steel to alum. I would need different wire and gas but anything else.
All depends on what you are welding.
You can't weld aluminum with a typical MIG very easily. They have spool MIG guns for that, but those are expensive. I weld mild steel and stainless with my MIG alot. I use the same gas, just different wire.
A TIG is generally better for thinner metals where you want a better quality weld. A MIG can weld thicker steel, is easier to use, and is cheaper too.
