Question Craftsman Socket question

I just received a craftsman toolbox with more craftsman sockets than I can list. The strange thing was that half or more were different. They were blued and where you connect them to the ratchet are weird and the are hard to put on the ratchet. I have looked all over the web for any indication and explanation to the new style of craftsman sockets but found nothing. If anyone out there knows what I am describing and/or can direct me towards the answer I would greatly appreciate it.
baffled and curious

Take a picture of some of the sockets in question. I guarantee you the people on this board will be able to tell you more than you ever wanted to know about them.

I recently bought some off-brand 1/4 drive sockets from my local parts store. Hey, for $20 bucks for 12 sockets, I can't go wrong. Anyway, the sockets are also hard to put on and take off standard extensions and ratchets, etc.

Where did you get your Sears tool box; are these used tools? If yes, some of the sockets may have been replaced by Sears after breakage... They do this with the latest sockets on the shelf. Therefore, the replacement sockets may not match the original set... For example, I believe all the newer Sears sockets are eched with the size - 1/4 inch, etc, in big bold letters & numbers. The older Sears sockets have the size stamped into them....

Hey - another great reason to buy Sears tools - they replace them immediately without question - unfortunately, the replacement tools may not match your existing set! But at least you don't have to wait for the Mac toolman to show in order to repair the next rat that crawls into your garage...

No, I think the etched sockets are a special set. The standard socket should be the same old school type. If you are unhappy with the set, take it back and get another one. Sears is one of the best companies ever for returns. I have taken sockets in with lug nuts stuck in them and they still replace them with new ones.
