Default Plasma Cutters - Need some input

Well, I got my welder running good and have gotten pretty good at welding with it...gotta love wire feed flux core welders.

What I want to get now is a plasma cutter to make cutting the workpieces a little easier. Cutoff wheels, chop saws, and hacksaws work but, a nice easy to use plasma cutter would be so SWEET!

I've been searching and like the looks of this Miller. Does anyone have one of these and how do you like it? I like the facts that it has it's own air supply and runs on regular house current. The thickest metal I've worked with so far is 11ga. so a machine with this capacity would be fine for me.

Miller Spectrum Thunder

If you have any suggestions/links let me know.

Thanks

John

We use a Miller spectrum 2050 at work and it's a real hoss. I've cut 1/2" steel plates with it with no problems. We have two big stationary welders, two pull around welders, and two plasma cutters. All the Miller stuff has done great here.

The miller stuff is real nice. You better invest in a water trap if you don't get all of the water out of the air you will be blowing tips.

The Spectrum Thunder has it's own built in compressor so I wonder if a water trap could be added to it?

The next biggest one that Miller makes is the Cutmate 375. It doesn't have it's own compressor which makes it less portable but, it has twice the capacity as the Thunder. It's just a little more exspensive than the Thunder also.

Spectrum 375 Cutmate

Decisions.....decisions.

Thanks
