Default How about this Air Compressor?

I am a weekend light load user but I just received my latest Harbor Freight Tools magazine. They have two 120V oiled compressors. Brand is Central Pneumatic.

1st one:
8 gallon, 120 psi
Air delivery is 5.6 SCFM@90, 7.2 SCFM@60psi
4HP peak 3Hp rated.
$119

2nd one:
21 gallon, 125 psi
3.5scfm@90 8.8 scfm@40
$169

So, does anyone think this is worth getting. More than anything, I wonder if they make an electric rachet. I know they make an electric impact. Thanks,

Jim Kay

It depends on what you will be using them for. If you want to use an air ratchet I believe you should use a 30 gallon or bigger. Tose sizes are good for tires, staple guns and light tools like that.

If you have the space... get as big of a tank as possible. I am eventually going to put a 60 gallon in the basement and plumb it up to the garage.

The central nuematics compressor from harbor freight was trash. It stopped working in 3 days.... so i returned it..

Most of the other HF stuff is good, however....

I appreciate the scoop. See, I would love a Sam's club 80 gallon tank but at $800, I can't see me using it enough to justify the price. Guess I will just keep saving and put it on my long list of "I Wish I had".

Will a small portable air compressor. Say a 8 gal 120 psi power an impact well enough to remove lug nuts. I would like to have a small compressor for just changing tires. Thanks

You've got to figure out the tools you want to use. For example, you'll not be able to use most HVLP spray guns (usually need 10 - 17 CFM), some sanders, grinders and cut off tools (like 10-15 CFM @90 PSI). I found that out the hard way - I have a sears 6 HP 30 gallon - bought a high speed cutoff tool and it didn't really cut, and the compressor continually cycling on. Check out the specifications of the tools you want to power with the compressor, then decide.
