How to make lifter retainer tool?
Three Q's:
1: How long should the rod be? (More worried about it being too long...not too short....as I can use the cam as a guide for that)
2. I saw one end of the JPR rods are flattened? Is this for clearance....or to hold the lifters? How deep does the flattened area need to be on a 5/16 or 3/8" rod?
3. Does th end of the tool need to have the "slippers" (flat handles) or is this more for a convenient grasping surface?
Please deal with my ignorance
What I don't want is to be knee-deep in a cam install and find my homemade lifter retainer tool won't work.Appreciate any input. I have a friend that's supposed to be helping/ doing my cam install and he has a JPR tool. Making my own hommade lifter retainer tool is just in case I need "plan B" (ie me installing the cam
