Are you going to do aluminum? If so you'll need a HF voltage source to keep the arc going with AC. You can use a copper strike sheet for steel . You'll also need a tank of argon or argon/ co2 mix , regulators and flow meter.

not gonna do aluminum. most ill do is subframes and stainless. i guess the strike sheet lets u start the arc w/o melting anything?

The copper strike strip is to not contaminate the tungsten with any foreign particles, such as steel, which will stick to it, copper wont, so its a good way to start the arc without HF start....

I picked up a weldcraft 150A air-cooled tig torch body off ebay for $30 shipped. Then went to work and equipped it with collet, tungsten, and other parts that the ebay seller didn't include (it was $23 for the torch and 7 for shipping, after all). Keep in mind that you'll pay $25-35 for a hose for it (online) and up to 75 for a 12.5' hose direct from miller/lincoln/hobart/weldcraft.

Also, watch ebay for the high frequency units. I bought a miller HF-1-WG unit that does HF and water/gas too for $230, works great, beefy old unit (still grey, not blue like the newer stuff). Still working on getting a welding trailer together around my lincoln ranger (kubota power baby) so I can be a lot more organized and mobile...

check weldingdepot.com, they have a lot of deals there, also might want to post a WTB request at shopfloortalk.com forums.
