He couldn't make it move, so I tried (and I'm around 250 lbs) I jumped on it and the ratchet case shattered, along with pretty much everything inside. So all I had left was a handle with a jagged opening up top. I brought that, along with a ziplock of all the internals I could find back to sears and got a new one. The look on the clerks face was priceless!
Ha that reminds me when I was helping a friend with headers on his mustang. I remember I was using a ratchet on a bolt, and I put a little pipe over it, and pulled, and it shattered into tiny little pieces.

Needless to say, the project was done for the evening.

Try Kmart!

Although, they may only have the basic stuff.

They just changed a local KMart to a Sears essentials. That was the first place I tried. I have one more Sears to try then I will have them order it.

I've got a lot of snap-on and craftsman stuff. The only Socket I've ever broken was a Craftsman 5/8" Deep. I did it torquing the bejeezus out of an ARP 6pt Head stud Nut.

At work, I use the companeys Snap on tools and 3 weeks ago Ime and a co-worker broke a 1/2 inch ratchet. man it took a lot of pulling but now its trash. been three weeks and we dont have a truck stopping at the job site. maby it will never be replaced. oh well..

don't let them know that, the damn store didn't want to warranty a 32mm socket that i broke in 3 places because i used the impact on it, so i waited till there was a girl there and took it back in, problem solved. they do on occasion break but for the money their great. i've probably broke more snap-on socket, but then again i use them everyday at work and with my 3/8 impact that will break anything.

it's supposed to be a no questions deal on the warrenty. The few times I got a dirty look about some mangled tool that I brought back I just said OK and walked over to the next sales dude and always found someone that was like "yea, he doesn't know what he's doing, let's go get another..."

my biggest problem with craftsman is their rachets. After using them a while, they always begin to slip in the gearing.I probably taking back 10 rachets in the past 5 years because of this.Nothing makes me madder than to have the gearing slip while your applying some force, causing you to punch whatever your working on.That and the lever to reverse them being made out of plastic..

I have used craftsman tools my whole life and I can honestly say they have performed very well. On occasion I have broken a few things along the way but you can't beat the warranty or the ease of replacement of these tools and lets face it ... we all abuse our tools sometimes and they reach their limits and break.I was talking to one of the techs where I work and he told me that craftsman tools are made by Matco, but I do not know if this is true or not.... maybe somebody on this board could verify this if they know weather this is fact or fiction.

I posted this on another thread but thought I'd share here as well.
I got mine from Sears and when I broke my 8mm & 10mm the sorry *** mangaer told me I'd have to send them in to get replaced. I tried arguing the fact that I had just spent over $1500 in tools from their store that he should just swap them out for me since i was planning on purchasing their Professinal series toolboxes, but he woulnd't budge. So I was telling my Matco dealer about this and he told me to get the wrenches and he would swap them out for me for no cost. About a 1/2yr later I purchased a Matco 7535 3-bay toolbox with a stainless steel top and cover for about $5000. I take a picture of me with the new toolbox and decided i wanted to go visit the manager at Sears just to **** with him. i show him the pics and he tells me he was just doing his job and so I tell him I'm doing mine and to go **** himself with crapman tools.
sorry about the rant guys but I had to

Craftsman tools are manufactured by Danaher, the parent company of Matco tools. In fact, Danaher is the parent company (owns the rights to) KD tools, Armstring, Matco, Allen, Kobalt, Craftsman and others (the used to mention Craftsman by name on their websit wwwDanaher.com but they no longer do...). I have heard the same thing - that some Craftsman pieces are nearly identical to the Matco offerings, esp the sockets. The new thin profile Cman "pro" ratchets are very similar in construction to the Matco 60-tooth series ratchets. Also, check out the Cman Pro full polished wrenches. Put them next to some Matcos. They are strikingly similar.

There are also some Craftsman pieces that look very similar to some SK pieces (full polish line wrenches). I cannot verify an SK-Craftsman connection, but I do know that Sears does sell a lot of SK through their catalog.

Take this for what it's worth, but so far my Craftsman tools have been an unbeatable value.
