t-top conversion
hey guys i am looking at a 98+ firebird project car that i can get cheap but its a hardtop and was wondering how hard is it to convert to ttops and whats needed thanks.

Actually, it's not that hard. I've seen it done, and seen the results. If you take your time, and cut carefully, it can be done. You just need ALLLLLL the parts from the donor car. The little trim pieces, etc. to make it look good. The only part that's kinda tough to deal with is at the windshield pillar where things can look a little "homemade".
There have been a lot of threads over on CamaroZ28.com about it. I remember guys doing it 5 years ago. Your hardtop car is a T-top car underneath the plastic roof anyway...

Damn I wish I could go the other way, I want a hard top! Anyway there really isnt too much to it. The roof panel is one piece and the cars were designed from the factory as t top cars. There is just a piece of stamped steel bonded between the windshield and sail panel. I guess the only real trick is sealing the surface of the t top, which they cant do right from the factory anyway...
